I don't remember Krispy Kreme being blamed for any obesity problem over here. Why would they pin obesity on one doughnut chain?
Regardless, I love Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Very tasty. And I don't really get any "sugar high" either. Come on people, it's just a doughnut. Don't eat them every day and you should live plenty long enough.

And if I have to drive to Penrith Panthers to try one I think I'll stick to home grown diabetes inducing food stuffs.

man i just ask a simple question and u guys start burning me.
ok krispy kreme doughnuts r baked not deep fried like most donut places, i havent had a donut since i had macdonalds (since the beginning of time), i dont eat junk, i like to see food that resembles actual meat and vegetables.
anyway the figures that they did their first week were mind boggling (u wouldnt believe me if i told u) but i guess the obese boguns out penrith way got sick of the old junk food so they tried the new kids on the block.

hey im anti junk food as well and not too partial about all the US bravado that all those jerks go on about as well. but i'm partial to an extremely good business plan and concept, altho i don't believe it can be sustained, like starbucks. unfortunately the guys here cant seem to grasp that Oz is already a matured market when it comes to coffee and that there is just too much competition. would u believe that starbucks say that they plan to break even and start making money in 2005 (they began in Oz in 2000), i dont know about u but 5 years of losing money is too long for me, but i guess they're looking at the long term.

Well, Krispy Kreme has been over here for years and the lines are still out the doors in the mornings. You owe it to yourself to try them at least once. Then you'll understand the hype. I know nothing about your market but if you don't think they'll last you'd better try them before they're gone.

Unlike some others here I have very few issues with American culture but one I object to is the bright lights, fast food, drive through convenience aspect of American life. You can keep that. I won't be surprised when someone in the US opens a drive through liposuction and heart bypass franchise.

I agree with you here. It is getting a little out of hand. But if people are eating the crap in mass quantities they can hardly blame the people who made the food. All the Nutrition Facts are clearly posted...most just choose not to look at them
