Alpine Dash Controls Interface
I just got my Alpine KCE-865B dash controls convertor which I ordered from the UK. For anyone else with an Alpine head unit in their S2000, I definitely recommend it. Before I knew about it I was very hesitant to change the stereo as I wanted to retain the stock functionality, but now that I have full use of the controls again I couldn't be happier.

I am pretty sure that it is not ANY Alpine headunit. I know that most of the top-of-the-range current series Alpine headunits have the special input (like a walkman headphone jack) on the back of them though. I think it would be a matter of finding an Alpine head unit that you like, and checking for the jack on the back before buying it. FYI I have the CDA-7876RB (RRP $999).
The actual dash controls convertor (KCE-865B) is not available locally as Alpine Australia do not import it. I have spoken to Alpine and they apparently have no plans to bring in parts such as this due to the low volume that they would sell. I went through a retailer in the UK, and was charged around 77 pounds including postage (ended up being $213.05 delivered). Note that this part also means that a new Alpine headset is a direct plug in solution as it has an adaptor for the OEM harness.
If you want any more details, feel free to ask away

I am pleased to hear that you got your KCE-865B(r1) OK.
Now I dont want to worry you but.....see my thread on the UK boards (If, as I suspect, my problem is down to the unit overheating due to enthusiastic use of the heater, this should not be a problem for you in Melbourne)

Ah!...........sorry chaps - please excuse my ignorance - when I was last there it was sort of dank and miserable, but pretty warm and the locals kept telling me how the Melbourne climate was 'sub-Mediteranean' - by the sounds of things, thats very 'sub-Med'!!

From what I have heard (from overseas sources) the non-AiNet Alpine models work with the stacker, but my factory 8 disc stacker was a Panasonic unit, so I don't know how that works...
