Thanks Brock that's some really useful info. I couldn't find anything in the S2000 manual that said "GL4 transmission fluid is OK" so I was a bit concerned. They shroud things in secrecy by saying "use Honda MTF" and then not telling you what that is.
Some gearboxes seem to use weird stuff. My ex Celica used Dextron II auto gearbox oil in the manual transaxle!
I actually have a MY00 WRX and was tossing up whether to put Syntrax in the gearbox. On your evidence I think I'll do it. Mine also has 10,000km on it. Strangely, I have few complaints about the Subaru gearbox. Mine is positive and firm in feel (bit rubbery maybe), with throws that are not too long (but not like an S2000 obviously) and mostly doesn't notch except occasionally going into second. I'll have it on the track a bit from now on though so it's better to put something hard core in there, and the shift quality can always be better. I'll let you know how it goes.
Can you tell me the exact fluids you used in the S2000? I was going to go with a Castrol 75W-85 synthetic for the gearbox, and maybe Syntrax 75W-90 for the diff?

Hi Naishou.
I ended up using a Neo Synthetic 75-90 in both diff/oil. Engine oil was a 10-30w.
www.neosynthetic.com
both can be bought for approx $20 a litre.
Cheers
mike.
ps - in Melb try Cosway Motorcycles.
