4.77 gearing

I have the 4.57 FD and there is little to no difference in noise compared to stock. How much whine you get depends a lot on your installation.
Correct. The 4.57 came first, the 4.56 was a re-design and has a different ratio of teeth on the crown and pinion (32:7 vs. 41:9) that is closer to the stock FD.
Not sure if the 4.57s are the weakest of the bunch... Again, a good installer/installation is key, regardless of the FD ratio that you install.
I'm going from memory here so could be wrong, but the 4.56/4.57 were specially made for the S2000 and feature a tooth profile that is stronger but louder (whine at certain speeds). I can't remember which came first, but the one that came second is a revision and slightly quieter.
Hi Ryan,
I was looking at 4.57 but got bit turned off doing research to find out about the whine and they are the weekest of the bunch.
Wanting 4.77 as its the most gains and compensates for no noise.
If anyone is selling or can see a good deal please let me know.
Cheers
Russ

2/ Seals/ gasket kit $175+ shipping
3/ Cryo treating $100ish
4/ Then installing gears/ installing back into the car $?

You have to completely disassemble/reassemble the diff (apart from the center) to swap gears. And, if your diff has a few miles on it you'd be crazy not swap bearings and seals whilst it's in pieces. And the art in rebuilding a diff is setting the backlash which you will have to do so yes, it's a rebuild.
