Default 4.77 gearing

Hi guys,

Looking at purchasing 4.77 gears and im based in sydney. I got quoted $450 for used and no warranty from Diff Technics at Kogorah,
They also told me its a hard ratio to find. Can anyone tell me if thats the going price? and are they really hard to find?
I dont mind paying but always on the lookout for the correct price.

Cheers
Russ

Hard to find? Nah mate that's just rubbish talk trying to reel you in. Look around on forum venders. Its a KIA FD that's readily available. The difficult ones are 4.56/7. Another option could be to look at the 4.44 that is currently priced at 300 delivered to anywhere in the world. Is it cyro treated?

Do the 4.44 do much though, I thought the pick of the bunch was the 4.56/7 as you get a good all round performance and that's what I thought you wanted rus or have you changed your mind to the 4.77's

I'm going from memory here so could be wrong, but the 4.56/4.57 were specially made for the S2000 and feature a tooth profile that is stronger but louder (whine at certain speeds). I can't remember which came first, but the one that came second is a revision and slightly quieter.

That said, strength in the final drive isn't so important if you don't have reinforced bearing end caps because they are almost certain to break first.

As far as which is the best ratio, it's very much personal preference and depends on what you want, there is no right answer.

Hi Ryan,

I was looking at 4.57 but got bit turned off doing research to find out about the whine and they are the weekest of the bunch.
Wanting 4.77 as its the most gains and compensates for no noise.
If anyone is selling or can see a good deal please let me know.

Cheers
Russ

Fair enough, who's building your diff and what's it costing you excluding the gears and yellow box, I've got my old broken diff sitting at home and I keep toying with the idea of getting a 4.56/7 or 4.77 to put into it, if only i knew what i know now about diff ratios i could have done it there and then.I'm getting my car tuned tonight so hopefully that gets me a few good extra horses

Dude im not rebuilding the diff, just swapping differentials ( the gearing )

My mods are passsword intake, spoon dual exhaust, Berk 70mm HFC, Js racing header. I wonder what dyno numbers also for my s2k, I was going to eventually
dyno the car once upgrade ECU with BC cam.

Anyone know where I can buy 4.77 in sydney? or who is selling
