The CR is supposed to be a lightweight track car. It's 99lbs (44Kg) lighter and has extra bracing and aero stuff.
So the question is, as light as those wheels may be, why didn't they go for a lighter alternative that also didn't look as ugly.

The only 'advantage' of the CR over regular S2000 that I see are the RE070 (ie. sticky) tyres. IMHO, if you put those tyres on a regular S2000 then there'd be nothing between that and the CR in terms of laptimes.

When talk of the CR arose for the weekend racers, we were expecting a track-focused S2000 (a la Porsche 911 GT3/GT2). Instead, we got a car with mainly "go-faster" bits literally tacked on. And they couldn't even get that right - "go-faster" bits don't have to look ugly.
I guess it's not for everyone, but I'm not a fan.

CR is all about a "track racer image" IMO. But it even failed at that. Like Mike said, it was supposed to be a hardcore track car.
So basically, it's a regular s2000 without A/C, and various luxuries (including the auto roof IRC), with plastic bits stuck on that make it's face look unlike the kid from that movie Mask and it's arse look ridiculous.

The wing is butt ugly, you'd really hope it's been designed in a tunnel and actually works, to offset the ugliness.
