Default Vehicle-related things to do in and around Tokyo....

Hey all,
I'll be in Tokyo next week and am looking for some advice on what to do when I'm in Japan. Any D1 competitions/Car shows/Races coming up?

Also, (please forgive my ignorance.) is there an Autobacs in Tokyo?

Any advice/assistance /recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

a lot depends on your mobility and "connections"within and near the city....one thing for sure stop by honda's "welcome plaza" and have a coffee ,watch the bigscreen tv and see what's on display...[great gifto shop]...also,isn't the tokyo auto show coming up???anybody have a date on that???...you can take a train from shinjuku directly there as i recall....fantastic stuff to be seen there...

Go to the "Super Autobacs" in Ariake.

Otherwise there's quite a few regular-sized Autobacs across town, i know one near Ebisu and another one at the intersection of Kanpachi with Inokashira Dori.

Go visit Spoon and Type One Racing. They are easy to get to on the subway line. There is a Super Autobacs in Odaiba. I went by car but I believe you can go by train. If you can, go see a JGTC race; it was awesome when I went. Or, you could try other racing series like Super Taikyu. Just remember, it is very expensive to travel to these tracks.

And don't forget to visit the Honda head-office's showroom in Aoyama. They have a MY 2004 S2000 VGS yellow with black/red interior on display (can be sat into but not driven).

Thanks all....Damn, I was in Odeiba yesterday and it`s a bitch getting over there from where I`m at (Omotesando). I`ll see how difficult it is to get over to Ariake, but I`m only a stop away from Aoyama!!!

Anyone know about the dates on the Tokyo auto show?

The last time I attended the Tokyo Auto Show, it was held in October. Oh, and like most conventions, it was held at Makuhare Messe (sp). So if you thought getting to Odaiba from Harajuku was bad...

Motor Show opens to the public on Sat 25 Oct.

(Correct spelling of the location is "Makuhari Messe").

Easy enough to get to by car, but not sure how to get there by train ......

When do you leave, nobody ?

I'm leaving in a few hours . I'll be back and I'll be better prepared for more auto adventures next time.

Thanks for all the recommendations everyone! In addition to running around non-stop, Honda's welcome plaza and Super Autobacs (as well as lurking on street corners for GT-Rs) was worth it.

I also met a transplanted Gaijin who can get tix to F1 and K1--now if only he could score some D1 tix!!!
