What should I do?
Yesterday I was driving my s2k, when all of the sudden some maniac tops the hill, almost completely in my lane. ( she was well over half way in my lane) The only thing I could do is swerve out of her way, and into some dudes yard. My S slid on the grass and bottomed out. The front bumper is messed up, and the fairings underneath are dragging. Anyways, I caught back up with her and we settled everything, she admitted it was her fault ,etc. and the insurance dude is coming out tomorrow to look at my S. I have a ap1 btw. I was thinking, just get the insurance dude to cut me a check and I get a aftermarket front bumper, or should I just get it fixed? I love the way the INGs+1 nspec front bumper looks.

chances are the insurance company will tell you to take it to a shop and they will contact them and find out exactly how much it will cost to repair your car or at least thats what happened to me when kinda of the same thing happened to me. and by the way sorry to hear about the car people around here cant drive and are complete dicks!

You should actually have the right to choose to send them a bill or settle up front for the cost of repairs. You have the right to choose how you repair the car, including doing all the work yourself.

Well he looked at it and is gonna give me alot less than what I was expecting. I'm just gonna get the check and pay my friend to do the repairs. It sucks, but at least me and my gf didn't get hurt

How much were you expecting? Did you take it to a body shop and get an estimate of repair costs (they do that for free!)? That should be the basis of a settlement to repair the car.

A body shop is really where the rubber meets the road when it comes to repairs. Their estimate is going to override an adjustor's estimate.
Whatever you do, don't let them push you around. Be reasonable but firm. Get all of your estimates in writing with full details on what parts will be replaced and what work will be done. It's standard procedure for body shops so they should be able to give you a proper estimate without any real issue.
