Phil... When I lived on the farm with my parents we had a tractor that we had to replace the PTO on. This tractor was older then me. We bought some penetrating oil and let it sit for a while then coated it again. Let it sit over night and the next day the bolts came off without a hitch.
I am not sure what the equivalent is in Autozone, but I bet if you asked for some and then used it the night before things would go smoothly.

the equivalent? Kroil is it, i would guess. it's a penetrating oil specifically targeted at breaking corroded connections. we used it to extract some 60 year old 1 7/16" studs from a vessel not too long ago.
i just need to find out where to buy it...
