Default iPod?

Is anyone in this group using an iPod in their S2000? Perhaps with the OEM head unit? I've got a two week vacation starting in mid August and it sure would be nice to put the iPod audio through the car speakers. I'm pretty much open to suggestions, but would prefer to not spend a fortune. Looks like there are a few options to get iPod serial connection, and a few for just AUX audio input. FM is out of the question.

Nearly as I can tell there are no acceptable devices for iPod control through any head unit, let alone the OEM one. And none of them are cheap. If there is a head unit that just "does everything right", please let me know.

I think my preferred method would be an AUX input, and those are still around $100. And you still have to power the iPod separately, which creates ground interference. Or use another $60 device that remedies power, ground interference, and plugs into the bottom of the iPod providing a single visible cable solution (kind of cool, actually).

So I guess, blah blah blah aside, how are you guys using an iPod in your S2000?

Had mine in the S, and now in the NSX. I actually use the FM transmitter, and have not had any problems. Never have static and I hard wired it in, so it does not take up the cig lighter plug. You can use it with the stock system, and aftermarket HU.

Collin's unit is cool but it's really confusing. i have a Clarion unit with an AUX line running from the back... The good thing about having a Aux wire run is that you can use any type of electronic device that has a headphone jack... I plug my phone into it, DVD player, and any type of MP3 player, not just an IPOD. You never know if someone else has a different type of MP3 player and you might want to use theirs...

That's my 2 cents...

I have a neo-ion (peripheral) in mine. I like it pretty well. It charges and lets you change songs on the Ipod through the stock radio controls.

I have a Dension Ice-Link in our other Honda. Its nicer in some ways and not as nice in others. It comes with a nice dock and it allows you to change playlists with the changer controls as well as displays actual song time on the stock radio. However, there is a considerable lag between switching songs on the radio controls and the Ipod changing.

Either is nice... if the playlist control and the dock are important to you, get the Ice Link, if not, get the Neo. Both are great.

I have the Alpine 9857 HU with an Alpine iPod controller. The iPod is controlled thru the HU. Not the best interface but it sounds good.

I have to agree with JDub on this one. My wife's new Si has the aux. jack that lets you plug in any type of MP3 player. You have to control the IPod from the unit, but it's a better, cheaper solution.

On a stock HU, I'd prob just use an FM transmitter until you can replace the HU.
