In Pensacola we are averaging 70 cars per event. It's a lot of fun and there's never any need to worry about being the only 1st timer running. I'm not sure how many run with Chip's group but it will be all kinds of cars in different classes. Autocrosses are almost like car shows where people actually drive their cars. You are likely to see everything from open wheel race cars to Kia's running around the course. Nothing wrong with spending a day watching but the fun is in driving. I watched a bunch before I started driving and wished I'd started sooner.

if you are worried about autoX, consider waiting for the next DE event. Lots of feedback and usually great instruction. I think there is probably one coming in oct/nov.
BUT, I would not fear or worry and get right into it. If I am ever able to AutoX again, you are more than welcome to ride with me on one of the non-timed/non-scored laps at the end of the day.
the WORST damage you get is streaks of rubber from the cones. easy to clean off. there is no other real danger like flipping or hitting other cars.

pre-registration for the Delta-SCCA event (in belle chasse) is always due the wednesday before the event. This requirement is from the US Navy, who graciously hosts the events on an old unused portion of the airfield.

You are in B Stock.
You have to register either way. The base wants us to do that. You should go ahead and race. You do not have to drive hard. I can step you through it.
