31.3 mpg wOoT!
With Premium costs rivalling milk nowadays, I've been driving with an eye on my Scangauge II to get better fuel economy. You can pick up a lot of good habits by monitoring how fast fuel is consumed. My last tank was half city and half highway, and I managed to eek out 26.6 mpg for the tank.
Today I tanked up for the trip to Cenla's night event and got all 331.5 miles on a single tank of gas (tanked up at the same place). I put in 10.6 gallons, which matched my SGII's reading (which has been corrected for my car), and the SGII odometer was less than 2 miles off. The tank averaged 31.3 mpg (31.4 on SGII). So that's a personal record for MPG and distance on a tank in my S2000.
Most driving was 65-70 mph, with some higher speeds on stretches, and some stop & go. I did some mild drafting when I could (2 seconds back), and ran the AC most of the time. With less traffic and more steady speeds, I'm sure 33-35 mpg is possible (saw those numbers in many sections with the SGII). Yes, I got passed a lot.
One thing I can confirm after watching the SGII for the last few weeks: a half tank on the S2000 digital gauge is not really a half tank: It's really 40/60 ( around 4.5 gallons left in the tank, and 6.5 gallons used).

NICE post benson im always keeping track of my tank too. Lately i been trying to figured out if my new HKS exhaust is helping with gas or not. But it hard since most of my driving is not consistent and i dont use the a/c all the time.

The Elise is my most fuel effecient car. It gets 32-34 mpg's on the highway without even trying.

That was without the trailer. I lose about 5 mpg with the trailer, all things being equal. That might sound like a lot but 24 mpg is still a lot better than a truck and trailer (10-12 mpg).
I normally get 27-29 mpg in normal highway driving. Paul must be using new math.
My Accord can get 30-32 easy, and I hit 34 mpg using the same techniques (slower pace, drafting, easy throttle). With the size of the tank, I can hit 450 miles on a tank, easy.

While caravaning to Houston, I got 30.9 mpg to Paul's 32 on the first tank and with the second take I only got ~25 mpg and he got 23 mpg with top down, mine top up ....let just it was a spirited tank.

I got a little over 49mpg on a tank in my Golf last week. All local driving. I can often get over 600 miles to a tank. I'd rather be getting 30mpg's in an S2000 than 50mpg's in a Golf TDI...
