For your first time be there by 6:30 because you'll have to have some time to figure shit out and find where you're supposed to be. Tech will be in the morning too so you need time to get through that.

PIR is south of I-10 on Avondale Blvd. You should allow 1hr to get there from N Scottsdale.

Here's the HPDE tech form:
http://www.nasaproracing.com/images/rules-...m_hpde_tech.pdf

Basically check that everything is bolted down (battery, etc) and you don't have any junk that may come off the car on the track.

Does that mean I need to take off my limited edition type R Jack in the Box antenna bobble? What about my signed Jeff Gordon dashboard jesus and my Ricky Bobby steering wheel cover?

There are only a few of us who run timed laps at PIR so not too much to compare against. Ryan (l8brakr) managed to throw down a 1:12 flat in his fairly stock car with some pretty worn in RA1s (205F/245R) and full interior during one of our local time attacks! One of the SCCA racers (rlaifatt) from CA qualified low 1:10s in his race-prepped stripped out S (255s RA1s all the way around + wing) last year. I ran mid 1:13s the last time I was out there with worn 245 RA1s all the way around and a mid-deck wing. I was not flat thru oval nor was I flat thru 2-7 either. I was exiting the banking at around 106-108. Probably around 120 at the T1 braking point in 5th.

BTW for the new guys, please don't try to achieve a certain lap time the 1st few times you're out. Learn to drive the car and the speeds will go up naturally. I would hate for some of you guys to have a bad experience and hurt yourself and/or the car due to a bad judgement call. Just go out and have a good time! See some of you guys Sat!

I've always heard the it is not speed that kills.....nor is it the deceleration.

Wow, those are fast times.
My first day (6hrs during scca school) I was still running >1:20's so that's like doing 5 track days.. So yeah, please all the new guys, caution OVER pride. Being a smooth driver is what makes you fast and motorsports is one of those hobbies, like golf, that you can do until you're 90 years old.. so don't rush anything!
