HPDE = High Performance Drivers Education. Your insurance should cover your car in an event of an accident even on track. This is because for HPDE1-3, there will not be any timing equipment allowed. There have been reports recently of insurance companies wording "being on track" as one of the reasons to void your policy whether or not timing is used. You will have to read the fine print in your contract I guess. But from experience they will cover your accident the 1st time out but may drop your coverage after they've paid the claim.

With that said, that's why you take the ground school (HPDE1) first. There will be instructors in the car to ensure you do not get over your head the 1st time out. They will teach you the line and will not push you to go fast if they don't think you can handle it. If you find that this is not for you, then that's okay too! Chalk it up to something you did at least once! But for most car nuts, its our Disneyland! Definitely sign up, you won't regret it!

if you're scared of scratching your lip or crashing your car this isn't the sport for you then.. just my opinion.. everytime i go to the track i expect to barrel roll my car 3 times.. usually nothing happens though

Read your policy, don't ask your agent. Agents automatically assume you're not covered, which is not always the case. I know Geico and possibly Progressive have exclusions for any track use but most other major carriers allow non-timed and non-competitive driver's education, which, as Mervin said, this is.

What a guy, huh? Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how I do on the track. Hopefully I won't piss all you guys off. But then again, maybe I'll surprise everyone at my speed and skill.

Hope to see you on the track Waterbug. Just do it 9KRDLIN - I'm sure you'll get hooked just like Kirk did.

Congrats j0oftheworld!

Hey how many posts do you have to have before you can upload your own Avatar?
It's cool you're going to be driving Karrie. More gf's should take note

As for everyone else that has reservations, this is NOT a race. You are not competing with anyone but yourself. What you're going to get is to let loose the car's potential in a safe environment unlike the streets and maybe learn a few things about how to be a better driver.
