Timing Chain Tensioner

I ran Mobil 1 for almost a year in my car, then got the TCT noise, read through lots and lots of TCT threads and posts, switched to Valvoline, and never heard it again. Basically, for some unknown reason, and no scientific proof, Mobil 1 lacks something that this car needs. No idea how or why, but everyone that switched from Mobil 1, never heard from their TCT again.
Just start using another oil!

I cant view that at work, but its just regular off the shelf 10W-30 Synthetic. Not expensive. I have to say, I ran mobil one for about the last 10 years on various cars, and got used to burning oil and the Mobil 1 turning a nasty brown almost immediately. Since switching to the Valvoline, I have not burnt a drop of oil in the S, and it stays a nice golden color for at least 3,000+ miles.....maybe I dont drive the car hard enough anymore

ran mobil 1 for nearly 100k now, never a peep. i am seeing a pattern. a very obvious pattern with these. all ap2s are having problems with them. easy replacement ftw.
ninja edit: I have only done 1 on an ap1. the rest were all ap2s. seems a prevalant problem. either they changed the design (doubtful) or the difference of the cam profile is causing an added stress on the tensioner

Mobil 1, IMO crap. I used it back in the day and went through a TCT roughly every 30k. Switched to Amsoil and havnt had a singleproblem since and its been over 80k.
Mobil 1 looses its TBN fast as hell, and my amsoil keeps a steady tbn throughout the life.
Mobil 1 is CHEAP, and you get what you pay for.
I have an amsoil supplier here in AZ if anyone is interested.

Damn I just had the oil changed grr...
I guess I'll consider all future oil changes to be synthetic.
How many miles are you guys going between oil changes ? Mine average around 5-10% life which equates to around 4500 miles between changes.
With Synthetic should I still go that distance or will I be able to get more ?
Thanks for all the good feedback.
