Sorry to hear. All to often do I see these. Alarms are great, but now you have to repair your softtop. Best to not even be an enabler. its worth the $100 a month the apartments usually charge

Take your car to a reputable shop. Geico will try to get you to pay for some of their cost by saying that this is a depreciating part and not give you the full amount. DO NOT LET THEM DO THIS. You pay for comprehensive coverage like everyone else and they are going to try and minimize their loss too. Get a quote from the shop you take it to and find a hardtop. Whoever did this will be back to do it again. Unfortunately your car is marked now because they know either where you live or spend the night. Check the forums for the guys selling the $1300 frp Mugen style hardtop and have the shop paint and install with the insurance money. I had a new top installed the first time only for them to come back again and cut my top and then slash my seats too because there was nothing in the car to steal.
This is exactly what i plan on doing. I was going to get a quote from the dealer assuming it would be the highest and go from there. I plan on doing all of the work myself, I don't like anyone working on my car. I have a viper alarm with all of the addons besides the prox sensor which I will be adding on today in hopes of preventing a return. At worst they would be able to cut the top worse and perhaps get the steering wheel and cluster if they can fit in between the bars on the top without setting off the alarm.
Unfortunately my apartment complex does not have garages so that is not an option. I had a car cover and was using that but stopped using that because it was scratching the paint pretty good.
I'm going to find out what the insurance company wants to do and go from there. If I have to I will get a storage unit and park it there as I do not use the car that often. Thanks again for all the info
