Default Spark plug wear

So I was doing some R&R on the pos '95 Civic LX dd of mine and thought I'd change the spark plugs while I did the oil.

Found an interesting wear on the resistors. I am not sure if this is working as intended but it only means we should change our spark plugs more often. I have no idea when they were replaced last (at least 2 years, 20k+ miles). They have gone from stock .43 spec to .63

At least I'm happy the burn seems clean and even across cylinders and a peek inside shows no oil whatsoever with mild piston deposits.

The engine is a D15B7 with 130k miles.

Another odd thing, Helms says to torque the plugs to 13 ft/lb. That sounds really low....

Well V-power plugs are only made to last a certain amount. Iridium or Platinum are made to last longer. Id say a set of V-powers would last 3-4 oil changes and thats it. if it were a Iridium or Platinum you could get 30k-60k out of them. The issue with the plug shown is (USED) over time the will lose their gap thats why they make Spark Plug Gapping tools even though almost ever plug comes out of the box pre-gapped. I would always double check as who knows if someone ever dropped the box. Nothing to get alarmed about just change the plugs and change them more frequent or pay the extra and get a set of platinum or iridiums.

Thanks G! I learned something new today.

I'm using IX's on the S so hopefully that will last longer but it sure will be something I check more often from now on.
