Soon to be an EX-Houstook
Hey guys,
I will be relocating to Phoenix in April and thought I would say hi. Have room for an EX-Houstook in your group? I won't know anybody when I get there so I figured what better way to meet some good people than through this board. How are the women in Phoenix? I will be leaving a great one behind and will be on the lookout. Anyway, enough for now but any insite on the people and the city would be great.
Thanks,
Marc
P.S. Any good sushi places there?

Hi Marc,
I can't speak for everyone , but I'll welcome you to Arizona!
Lots of great looking women, not as made up as in Texas (at least Dallas) and yes there are some awesome sushi places here too. I like RA (Tempe and Scottsdale).
Look forward to meeting you!

Welcome! Man, I have been waiting for 6 month to meet a Houstook. Those posts about the get-togethers were great.
I agree with walkabt: women and food are in Tempe. Spend an hour sitting in the coffe place at 5th and Mill and you will fall in love 100 times. I took my brother up there once and he still talks about the girls TWO YEARS LATER!

Tanq and I have absolutely no interest in food or women because our wives are beautiful and excellant cooks.
OK she is gone. Lots of eye candy and excellant food but forget that. The first three months you are here you will be so busy running twisties and enjoying our windy mountain roads to think of anything else. You and your S are goint to love it here.
Welcome
Dick

Welcome to the group.
I am 59 (60 in July ) and married 36 years.
Born and raised in upstate NY (Rochester)
Spent 4 yrs in the AirForce and served in Pakistan and VietNam
Moved to Phoenix 11 yrs ago.
I worke for a state governments(which I wont speak aloud) and am a mainframe programmer
Got the S on 11/1/99 and have loved it more each day. Have been a car nut my whole life and this is the greatest car I have ever had.
We usually have 8 - 10 on our rides and try to go once a month. It is not always the same people so I believe there is the potential for a larger group on our trips. There is nothing that attracts more attention than a group of us cruising thru a small town. Nice people and some great conversation when we stop for lunch. You will fit right in. We are the only seniors (old farts) and most of the group is single. We usually have some women on the rides who have impressed me as being excellant drivers and fun people.
See you soon

30, single and loving life
Automation manager for a major insurance company. If you work for Safeway; we have the complex next to you with the garages
I've lived all over the place it seems like. When I meet you I'll fill you in. I did go to Middle school in the park cities (2 years+-)

Welcome, Rubber Ducky. It will be an honor to meet a Houstook! You'll fit right in here. Being from Houston, you can take the horrible, unbelievable, I-don't-know-how-anyone-can-live-in-it heat of the Valley -- at least it won't be so humid. We have an incredible group of people. Much diversity, but one very important, fun, and fast thing in common.
I live up in the mountains of Flagstaff at about 7000 feet. These days, the guys laugh at me b/c I am freezing my n*ts off, but about 9 months of the year, I'm in much better weather than the guys down south.
I work for WL Gore & Associates (what's the big secret, guys? am I missing something?) makers of GORE-TEX fabrics. I travel about three weeks per month on business. I am as single as they come, but at least there are married (or soon to be married) folks in the group like Tanqueray, Gloffer, S2k3132, G-Man R, and Bluescreen that give me some sense that there is hope of marrying a wonderful woman someday. (Maybe even one that won't always want the top up!) I'm 28.
Mods to the car include:
Rick's console cover, etched windscreen, visor stickers, badges, and shift boot.
Muzmat
Voodoo spun pearl knob
Upgraded speakers w/ amp
Muz's saddlebag (a must-have, in my opinion!)
Spoon STB (thanks to Tanq)
Garage Door opener wired to the high beams (flash to open - the coolest thing I've ever seen)
JDM key (haven't quite made it work yet)
Camera mount on order
I also have spent a ridiculous amount of money collecting multiple die-cast models and every marketing piece that was ever created on the s2k. Someday we'll have a showcase up in Flag to review the German, British, Japanese, Canadian, and American brochures for the car.
Without this car, I wouldn't need roommates, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Look forward to meeting you when you get out here.
Dave
