going off is a very valid concern. No need in ruining your day by going off on your first run. It is more about fun than competition at times.

My comments were geared towards overall, how to approach the sport.

Datalogging is cool. I still haven't used it much but once I get a new phone, I'll probably attempt it again. I mainly just datalog engine temps and rpm now with Torque Pro. The GPS line data and speed isn't all that accurate but is fun to look at every once in a while. I generally don't look at it bt runs. I'd really like to get a new Go Pro3 or maybe something similar but I have some other car mods to buy before that since I already have a go-pro.

I picked up a Qstarz BT-Q818X Bluetooth GPS Receiver to go along with my OBDLink scantool. It is a 10hz unit, so it's far more accurate than a phone's GPS which is normally 1-2hz. I may still pick up SoloStorm at a later date, but for now I'm using TorquePro.

The bluetooth GPS receiver is the way to go and can be setup with not much effort. I really like when it's used with Video and car data showing RPM, speed and placement on track. fun stuff.
