Default September 14 AutoX Event

I just completed my first AutoX event at Bondurant through AZ Solo. The course was not what I expected as it was a fun short road course with cones. They have another event on September 14th if anyone's interested in attending. It looks like the same road course called the Bondurant Lake Loop. Great course for a S2000!

Visit http://www.azsolo.com for more information. I know that a few of us will probably be there. Register by visiting http://www.MindTheCones.com if interested. Usually only $40 for non-members. Generally starts early in the morning and done by midday. You have to be willing help along the course once your runs are done. If any of you decide to do the event, respond by cut and paste of the sign up list in your post. If we have enough interest, we can possibly create a paddock area just for S owners at the event. The idea is to run the event and have lunch at nearby Wild Horse Pass Casino. Please note the you need to register on your own for the event.

UPDATE: 09/02/2014 - Gates Open 6:30 a.m. - Event Logistics: http://www.azsolo.co...events-info/183.

Michael and I will be there when the gates open to reserve spots as best as possible for everyone. I highly recommend that everyone show up by 7am so you can park, get your car ready, complete the tech inspection, and walk the course. It's much more relaxing on an event when you show up with ample time. We will plan on eating at the Casino once eveyone has completed their Run Groups. Items to bring to the track: air compressor/pump, impact gun, tire pressure gauge, torque wrench, cooler, chairs, camera/GoPro, sunblock, dry t-shirt, hat, sun glasses, helmet, gloves (optional), sun shade for windshield, and water. Many of us will have these items so we can share as needed.

NOTE: Please print your receipt at home and bring with you to event if you paid online as they will ask you for evidence of payment. The other option is to save your online receipt on your phone.

Keep in mind that the Summer events are usually less attended due to the heat and the Phoenix events often will have a large number of people attending, so there's a good chance this event will run into the afternoon. They'll most likely have 4 groups as full as the A group your ran in.

Good point. Thanks Michael. So it looks like maybe late lunch for those that decide to stay after they are done helping on the course. We will play it as it goes. If nothing else, it will be cool to have a sea of S2K's on the track.

I think Michael and I hooked Sandeep in autocross. lol.
autocross is inexpensive and good way to start motor sport. It was Sandeep's first time but you can tell he has experince by looking how he drives.
I had a lot of fun doing this with friends and hanging out after the event.

Yeah it was fun. I learned a few things my first time out watching the video of my fastest run along with other faster drivers on the track.

1. Don't let engine bog down at the start. Find the correct RPM to release clutch without too much wheel spin.
2. Don't let the car track out too far on turns. Cover the least distance to the cones as possible.
3. Brake harder before the directional cone to shift weight to front tires for better steering through cones.
4. Line up straight off turns before entering the slaloms. Look ahead past the last cone through the slalom.
5. Modulate throttle pressure through the slalom instead of braking.
6. Engage 3rd gear off large radius turns to carry greater speed to the slalom.

These are things I feel I could do better in my next session. Any other tips to get faster?

I think riding next to one of instructors or exprienced guys like Ryan here would be the best way to learn. or ask them to drive your car if possible. The biggest difference I felt when an instructor drove my car was braking. a lot later and harder.
