There's an SCCA Solo II Autocross at Firebird International Raceway Sunday Sept 8. Use this link to sign up early. http://www.azsolo2.com/signup.html
Here's the link to the schedule for that day http://www.azsolo2.com/details/event20020908.htm
Believe me it pays to sign-up on-line and try for an early run group. If you don't sign up on-line, you'll probably get stuck in a late run group which means you won't run until late in the day.
However, if you do sign-up on-line and then decide you can NOT make it, make sure you E-mail the organizer that you won't make it. If you don't your future internet sign-ups will be in jeopardy. This is because the AZ SCCA does as much pre-event organizing as possible and if you're NOT there it creates a hole in the run group, that will at a minimum cause confusion and at the worst cause mis-posting of times. Please be considerate of the AZ SCCA, there's a lot to do with between 100-200 cars running in the time alloted.
Gates open at 6:30 AM. I plan on being there around 7:00 AM
The cost is $25 for non-members of the SCCA. High stress excitement for 60 sec/4 runs. You can look up more info at: http://www.az-region-scca.org/.
If you decide to go we should probably try and all get in the same run-group. For this event, I suggest C. My registration run group priorities for this event are C, A, B.
Other hints:
Try to have 1/2 tank gas or less.
The lower tank level the better, an autocross probably only uses one gallon of fuel, two gallons max.
Bring your own helmet, however loaner helmets are available, Motorcycle helmets newer than 1995 meet the requirements.
Bring a lawn chair, and shade if you have it.
Sunscreen. There's hardly any shade at a Firebird Skid pad.
Bring water/sodas/snack foods. They usually set up a hot dog stand, but there's no guarantee.
Remove unnecessary items from your car, there's a tech inspection that looks for loose items.
For the events at the Firebird skid pad there's an unpaved "paddock" area where you'll be able to remove/store spare tire, tool kits, floor mats, etc. before your runs.

That was absolutely the most fun I've had yet in the car. Thanks to Gloffer for turning me onto this and showing me the ropes. We've got to get a better turn-out for the next one - you guys won't be disappointed!
Gloffer smoked me - hell, the 17 year old girl in daddy's new corvette smoked me - but it was fun anyway. Great day!
