S2000, 350Z, Z4, Boxster (S)
Hello all,
Admittedly, after trying my S2K, my friend was hooked up. Sound familiar anyone? He is looking to buy a 2-seater sports car, preferably convertible. Of these choices, which one would you recommend and in what order? Please share your opinion on what are the pros and cons of each of them.

Yeah, I agree with what you guys say. The first time I sat on the 350Z I didn't even bother test driving it because it felt a bit big for me. I drove an M roadster and although it was unbelievably powerful, the ride was also unbelievable uncomfortable. I also test drove a '99 Boxster, and I felt the steering and the shifter on my accord were better (maybe it was because it was an older Porsche, but who knows). Do you guys have any input on these cars' performance, reliability, etc? Did I miss any other comparable cars? IMO the Miata is underpowered. I'd imagine it'd be kind of fun though if you got some new (harder) springs.

What exactly is your friend looking for in a car? I mean, we all love the S here (that's why we're here, right?)...but, there are millions of people who wouldn't be able to stand the ride, or the lack of doo-dads in the interior, etc. It all comes down to what specifically your friend is looking for out of a 2-seat roadster.

i woudl go with....
s
boxter S (only because it has the S in its name)
350z (the z is only a backwards S)
z4 (its a beemer, way overpriced for a pile of shit...that you have to pay to import, WTF!)
thats my selection... but i am more into a sportier car than a comfortable soft ride.

I've had a 350Z (Coupe), a Z4 and now the S2000. It's a matter of what you're looking for, and how much money you have.
The S2000 is probably the most fun to drive. It's light, nimble has a small car feel and can be exciting due to the engine noise. After a 3-5 hour road trip, I want to kill myself though, it's best as a city commuter IMO.
The Z isn't the most exciting, but it's a lot easier to drive day to day. It has torque, it accelerates hard without revving to 8500 all the time. There is a lot more interior space as well. As for long trips, it's a lot better than the S2000.. it's more stable on the road, more comfortable at higher speeds, it accelerates better at higher speeds.
The Z is a better driver/touring car than the S2000, but the S2000 is more fun for short trips and autocrossing. Forget the guy saying "I walk on 350Zs all the time in my S". 1. it's a race that's too close to call, and 2. there are better cars for the $$ if you're strictly looking to street race. I have plenty of miles in a Z and for the way an average person drives, it's a lot "faster" than the S2000.
The Z4 is considerably nicer than both, but it's an entirely different price range. It's more similar to the 350Z, in that it's comfortable, easy to drive, quiet, only a lot more refined. Pretty much everything I said about the 350Z applies to the Z4, only there's a little less trunk space and the vehicle quality is damn near perfect.
All are reliable as can be. The 350Z will never break, nor will the Z4.
