Sometimes you get what you pay for. I usually buy tires from the Big O in Surprise because the owner of the store is there almost everyday working his ass off to stay in business and his crew does a pretty good job. However, when I needed a flat repaired in Las Vegas, the Big O out there ran my car into a curb and destroyed my nice new freshly painted front diffuser. They then took roughly 6 months to pay for it. Sometimes its better to pay a little extra to make sure the job is done right.

I'd never use a chain anyways. Since this place is a kind of "specialty" place I thought I'd ask.
I was used to driving my own car into the garage, BS'ing w. the guys looking under my car while it was on the lift while they mounted my stuffs..
Beyond the ridiculously bad customer service you get at 99% of all automotive businesses I just don't understand the math behind changing 4 tires on an f'ing car = $100!? It's an unskilled service at that.

I think this topic is a lot more sensitive for us "racers" who go through a few sets of tires annually. If you got baller rimz and want to have a set of tires mounted up there since they obviously put the care into it go for it..

 

Obviously you are paying a $5 premium so they don't mess your shit up...

If all you care about is mounting a rim cheap then BIG O is your place.
$20 too expensive....? try a South Phoenix tire shop.

its like paying more for a professional to work on your car, instead of a kid in high school auto 1. the difference is clear, and the reason to pay the premium is obviously a smart move.

 

I guess it just depends on where you shop. I like WSI, but I live next to a discount, and theres a really good kid there who has nice wheels on his ride and lets me come back and WATCH him mount the tires and uses all the proper tools (teflon coated spoons etc) to ensure my wheels aren't damaged.

I guess it just depends on the individual shops skillset.

 

As I have mentioned on other posts related to this topic, When I first got my red wheels, the Store Manager for Discount at Country Club and Baseline recommended that I pay the extra $$ and have WSI mount my wheels. So if he is telling me then it must make somewhat of a difference.

If you are anal about your wheels, sweating over $30 or $40 is immaterial In my opinion. Sure, if Discount messes up the wheels, they will replace them but the odds of getting them messed up in the first place is probably a lot smaller going to WSI.

I got two of my star specs mounted at a pepboys in chandler on s arizona av for 10 each and they didnt damage them at all. They only charged me for the mounting and not the balancing. but no guarantees you'll get that if someone else rings you up. I dont remember the guys name but he was a white shirt and looked mexican. hope that helps.
