My 2 cents about public school system...
Last time I checked, the az school system was literally 3rd to last in school funding. That doesnt necessarily state that the schools suck, but its hard to attract teachers and get enough teachers to students ratio without funding.
2nd. Take this literally when I say this, the US school public school system on a whole is very behind when it comes to educating their children compared to other countries. For example simple algebra, well actually lets start with arithmetics. when multplying 10 times 18, more than 80% will whip out their calculators for that. it seems as though students in the school system here are more reliant on calculators more than ever. and this is in HS. Students are still taking algebra 1 as a freshman in HS while kids in other major asian countries are finished with this subject by grade 7.
As a student you can take the free schooling and actually learn something or you can be 60% of the studnets who dont even try and somehow manage to pass HS with above average grades.
frankly I'm all for AIMS testing. it'll show who actually deserves to graduate versus who's just being extra nice to the teacher.

It was $30 mil a year for 10 years (for you AZ graduates, that is $300 million). And the plan was not to name it Pink Taco stadium, but Morton stadium and have Pink Taco signage all over the interior of the stadium (same difference). BTW, the Morton family corporation owns such names as the Hard Rock Cafe, and Morton's steakhouse, as well as the Pink Taco cafe.

And I don't personally see any problem naming it Pink Taco stadium. What is their record - one winning season out of the last 20? Sounds like a bunch of pink tacos to me.

Lee: What if you have a class where more than 20% actually deserves As? This unwritten rule says the professor would have to do something to decrease the % of As. If the professor gives out more than 20% As they have a possibility of being fired.
GoBrns: There are always exceptions to the rule. It is great to hear you have raised your children right. I am talking from recent experience from what I have seen in school. In general, the kids here are stupid. Just to list a few things I have seen in the classroom while class was going on:
1. Someone threw a donut at a teacher
2. Fist fights break out during lecture
3. Teachers called every word in the book to their face
4. A full water bottle thrown at someone
