Painting my S flat/matte black
Ok ive been pondering this for a while, mostly because there isn't a single body panel on my S that isn't f***ed up in some way, and I personally haven't ever seen a pic of an S in flat black, plus the fact that I think its bitchin' looking!
I was just curious to see if anyone here had attempted it or had any experience with this type of thing, either having done it personally or had a shop do it or something.
I have done some google searches and whatnot, but haven't really come up with anything concrete yet.
Also, I know that Sport Compact Car magazine did a whole writeup on painting their project STi flat black, but I can't find the issue in my archive, and thought I would reach out to you all to see what I can find out. Here's a pic of a Porsche GT2 that's been done that way.....

ugly, flat black is an old muscle car thing, and i mean like 30s to 50s. i think by putting it on a modern day japanese sports car might both butch the car, and get you laughed at by most people. but it looks like you might already be there. so feel free.

I actually want to paint my wheels flat black but don't know any place that would do it.
2605 S Industrial Park Ave
Tempe, AZ 85282
Phone: (480) 377-8000
They have flat black powder coat - expect to pay around $50-70 per wheel for strip and PC. I have had a couple sets of wheels done there.
One thing to consider about flat black on the car or the wheels - we live in a dusty environment, flat finishes will get dusty quicker and be more difficult to clean off.
I am thinking of bringing my AP2 wheels back to Gorilla and having them done in 40% gloss black (similar to the CE28N Time Attacks). I do like the time attacks but do not feel like spending $2400 for new wheels.

dude,
a Home Depot faux finish ... like sponged red over tan with three coats of clear should look the shiznit. Of course, you should write Martha Stewart for sponsorship.
Seriously, what I think would look fabulous on the S is the Dodge metallic red we see o their latest cars. It is the perfect shade of red with deep metal flake. You don't want to waste the curves of the S and that Dodge metallic red would do a great job showing off the lines.
My S is beat too. Eventually I'll do the red thing.
