I've been watching the Weather channel and checking them out online too.
The current scoop is that it should be 98 degrees tomorrow, cloudy and 20% chance of rain. Tomorrow's forecast dropped from 30% chance of rain to 20% in just an hour.

Well the day started with a lot of questions: was it going to rain all day, was SonShine going to make it, are we going to take the scenic tour like usual?
Rice Rocket and Walkabt met up at the Chandler Fashion Mall and started the parade up to Ft. McDowell Casino. Arriving at the casino we found Tanqueray who wasn't sure where we were meeting down south. Doc and Gloffer showed up a few minutes later and we started a couple conversations.
After waiting for AZ Paradise at the casino we went across the street to let some of the group fill up on gas and get a few things to eat and drink and we were off up to Payson. AZ Paradise still no where in sight and no one had his cell phone.
The way up was pretty uneventful, except for two things: one, walkabt holding his own in the curves and doing a little better than our rusty, but still fearless leader and two, a Pontiac sedan trying to keep up in the curves and then actually catching up in the straightaways. That was a little bit scary.
Arriving in Payson we were able to get a hold of CEO 2B via cell phone and meet up with him. After a quick jaunt through a shopping center parking lot...what happened Gloffer...we were on our way to the lake.
Unfortunately, so were about 3 bazillion other cars, trucks, campers and 18 wheelers, none of whom wanted to move over for anyone and all of whom thought they ruled our road, what the hey?
Half way to the lake from Payson we pulled over in Christopher Creek and ate at the local saloon/restaurant. Ok meal. Rice Rocket had a puny sandwich and is probably sick from the potato salad he ate. At least my food was cooked, over cooked...but we had a good time. Leaving the restaurant CEO 2B saw the car of his dreams, the Austin Powers pimp mobile from Goldmember, or at least something that resembled that swingin auto baby, yeah...
We got back on the road, a lot less traffic this time and went the last 12 - 15 miles. Just AFTER milepost 282 we made the left turn (NO WE DIDN'T MISS IT LIKE USUAL - perhaps because Herr Mapmaker actually read his own directions this time) and were on our way to our secret fishing hole, Woods Canyon Lake.
At the lake we immediately pulled the Lake Havasu photo shot again, pissing off Crusty Pete and Barnacle Bill (the two surviving members of ZZ Top) in the process. While they yelled at us to move our cars we slowly took our photos (soon to be posted) and then moved on when the line of trucks waiting to get their boats got a little long.
We hung around the lake for a while. We discovered it was not so secret a fishing hole as we thought, judging by the 4000 people and no parking spaces. We did see the pug from Men In Black calling out for attention. SonShine finally caught up to us though, after 2 cell phone messages on walkabt's phone (which were just heard moments ago).
Back on the road we made a quick stop at the Vista Point summit, took a dozen photos or more as the wind made my nipples hard (ok TMI - but I had to make someone laugh right?). We then took off on our way back to Payson.
Of course the road always has something in store for this rag tag bunch of drivers. This time it was the cop sitting in plain sight as Tanq is blowing by him at speed limit +. Of course my detector goes off reading the big hit Tanq took. The police car lights up ready to snag Tanq or maybe the unsuspecting Rice Rocket, but then realizes the traffic is bumper to bumper and there is no way in heck he can make it across the lane and catch up to us. Cost - one silver bullet.
In Payson, we pulled up to Chevron, got some gas and then headed to the DQ. A few Blizzards later (that was Oreo cookie for Gloffer, heath for Mystie, Reese's for Tanq and SonShine, Banana split for Rice Rocket, CEO 2B had damn I forgot one and Snickers for Doc) we headed back home.
The way back could have been more interesting, but the damn Corvette driver decided not to pass the cop that was going the limit right in front of us. I even egged the guy on a little, but it didn't work.
A light drizzle, light traffic and a gloomy sky led us back to the heat. CEO 2B took off somewhere as the rest of us said our goodbyes at the gas station just north of the 202 on the 87.
Looking forward to the next trip.
Adios, ciao, aloha, ta ta for now...

My apologies to all on this run. I am sorry for any delays in waiting for me to arrive. I was unable to make this run, but look forward to the next one.
Drinks will be on me for our next group dinner.
