Lol this is true. I am pretty much looking for the first "best" deal at this point haha. I've got a long run plan for my first one, but that will be years and years in the works haha

Can you make it out to tomorrow's meet? There is usually a good variety of cars among the group, and we can at least show you the major differences along the production life to help you make the best decision that's within budget.
Also if you end up finding one that's at a dealership, I can offer my assistance in that style of negotiation. I picked up mine at a local dealership forsignificantly less than what the same car would have gone private party.

To put it into perspective, I looked on and off for about 5 years to find the color, mileage, price, and options that I wanted when I picked mine up. I ended up flying across the country to purchase it, and honestly that trip was one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done.

I would love to be able to do that. Unfortunately, my budget and PTO would not allow for that haha. I'm sure I can find the right deal, it's just a matter of sticking it out.

There are other options out there if you look hard enough.

I know a shop that specialized in S2000s in Houston where it can be inspected. I also know many of the locals.

Color isn't much of an issue, although I'm not real big on SMB.
Mileage, trying to find something under 80k.
I am fine with either an AP1 or AP2, realistically expecting to get an AP1 (considering my price range and desired mileage)
Also I'm pretty set on it being completely stock. I can deal with something that has wheels, and a hardtop would actually be a plus, but don't want anything with mods to the engine or suspension. I plan on doing a lot of work on the car, on my own, and want to start with clean slate so to speak.
I am quite skilled at finding good deals, have done that a lot for friends and used to spend pretty much all my time in class searching cars on CL and then pricing out imaginary builds lol.
That last one under the Bay area listings is pretty close to what I'm looking for.

Does your mother know what you were doing in class? I'm guessing not... Glad you have made connections out there. I'm sure you will find a good car. I suppose with the nice weather in the area, there are more around to choose from. The last time I saw any members from the AZ Forum was in 2005 at the S2Ki fifth-year anniversary meet in CA. Lots of good memories. I'll be looking for pics of the new ride when you get it.
