Default Need help troubleshooting

Hey guys hopefully you all can help me out. A buddy of mine and I are stumped on his car. He has an Ap1 with an Ap2 motor and he just got new valves installed. When he picked up his car it won't rev past 4500 rpm's. It feels like it's hitting the rev limiter. Any ideas what it could be? He has an AEM computer.

Thanks!

If its gone stand alone then its the tune.

The tune was probably programmed to not let the car past 4500 RPM if something doesn't look good to the computer, such as oil pressure or coolant temperature, or engine knock.

Basically it just needs to go back to the tuner and he can tell you the exact problem...

Isn't that the safe mode fallback?

Not sure what RPM but if your check engine light is on, this tends to happen.

Yes it was working fine. The reason for the valves being replaced was because a friend of his was driving his car and he went from 2nd to first twice and bent some valves.

They forgot to plug in a sensor or hook up a vacuum line.

Yeah, its something due to the valve change procedure.

or did you try to red line the car while the temp was cold?

The tune is fine (as long as the mechanics did not load a new map)

We checked all the sensors and vaccum lines...

Nope we let it get to operating temps before trying to get past 4. I believe that the rpm cutoff for being cold is 6,000 anyways...

The shop did not mess with the tune at all. It's going to Ericks Racing tommorow but we were trying to get it figured out instead of forking out $350 for a re tune.
