It is my understanding that we(the u.s.a) does little with our own crude oils... other than stockpiling. I have been told this is because when everyone runs out.. we will be the only country w/ it. If this is true the price of gas could easily be lowered by us using some of our own oil.
As for using a car that uses gas more efficiently.. that technology has been around a while, but as long as car corporates stay in bed w/ the oil companies don't look for any real solution that has anything to do with fuel efficiency.
Not buying gas... as the corporations know is not even an options. People in the USA only demonstrate against the worst thing of all, indecency, who cares about the oil prices, the economy, the pointless invasion of countries, and countless other issues that should take precedence over such useless wastes of money as the FCC..
lol, I apologize for the rant. I guess my point is that the u.s.a. will continue to be ran by "the man" or the men in control.. the ceo's of huge corporations.
*jumps off tangent, and signs off* -g

Wait, I've got an even BETTER one for you...
Here in Europe, 9 out of every 10 cars are DIESEL! Why you ask? Here, diesel fuel is actually CHEAPER than regular unleaded AND burns MUCH CLEANER than our own diesel. Right now I'm driving a little TDI VW Golf (turbo diesel, most cars here are). It's a pretty quick little car, handles well, and easily BLOWS AWAY even our best mileage vehicles in the U.S. for fuel efficiency.
