Default are intakes even worth having in arizona?

I just drove my S back from Seattle and it feeels so slow in the low end...I was wondering if theres any intake mod that would help? Does the comptech one work the best in Phoenix? I dont see how the tube CAIs would be beneficial since it would be sucking air right above the ground which is just as hot...

yes! engine air is like 200 degrees +++++. At least the air out side is only 110+. So in esence, yes it is always benificial to have out side air vs, engine bay air. any air going into the engine bay has been through the Radiator, there is hot air eminating from the headers and the whole motor in general. So any un heated air would be good. My aftercooler has water circulating it at which runs betweet 140 F to 170 F depending what time of day it is. So the air going into the motor is as hot or hotter then the water temp around the aftercooler.

Good luck

Anyone have suggestions on an intake? What's the easiest to install?

None of them are terribly difficult to install. I used the V1 AEM CAI, which is pretty straight forward. The V2 (I'm told) requires a little more under-wheel fender cutting. The icebox's (Comptech, Spoon, etc) are easier to install but aren't really giving you a huge benefit over the stock airbox because of their location.

Search the site a bit for more info/opinions/descriptions/installation pics/etc.

I have the garage defend carbon fiber plate. It has virtually eliminated throtle lag and I keep my stock airbox. I have removed my radiator cover.

I would suggest also maybe getting one of the cooling plates like the AUT. I had it and I would think it would help in circulating the air in the engine bay. Watch out for puddles though, the filter for any CAI is really low to the ground.

Meh, I have one of those CF heat shields and I don't personally think it does squat. The heat from the head still has to go somewhere. And the CAI filter isn't all that low. You'd have to drive through standing water, not just a puddle, before you needed to worry about hydrolock.

I don't plan on even driving in the rain, Ive never been here for monsoon season but if it starts raining hard Im just gonna pull over and stop till it clears up, or if I see a puddle Ill just turn around
