Try posting a WTB on the site and see what happens. Also certainly check the junkyards, not only locally, but online nationally. 8k=no way. Swapping a used one in is much easier than a full rebuild.

Man you got some serious mileage out of that transmission! Time for a rebuild. If you're a DIY kind of guy, buy lots of beer for your buddies and start posting WTBs in the main forums. If you're a "drop it off and let it be someone else's headache" person, give Chris at SOS or Cesar up at Earnhardt's Honda a call.

Lastly, don't mourn the death of your tranny - it lived a long and fruitful life!

try calling Tage he is the honda tranny "KING" ill ask him tonight when im at his house for a guess on labor but most b16/gsr/ls/type-r trannys are only 250labor. so im guessing a s2 wont be much more if you look at the specs of them there not much more work than the b16/gsr/ls/type-r trannys. i just bought a blown ap1 tranny to play with if it turns out good after i rebuild it ill sell it to you.

Yeah Tage is internationally known (it in gangsta speak). If he can help, you can't go wrong.

Well. I've been looking at a handful of used transmissions, and it seems like that's the route I want to go. Unless I can get a better quote for a rebuild, I've seen the tranny's go anywhere from $700 - $2000.

I'm also going to use this time to upgrade my clutch (being that they said it sounded damaged anyway), and that way I won't get charged extra labor for it.

Any suggestions on a clutch. Mind you, I am not TOO concerned about it being a rough ride, so a somewhat aggressive clutch won't bother me that much. Granted, I'm not going for all race, but nonetheless, an increase in stiffness or engagement won't be too big of a deal for me. I'll survive...........and my left leg will be lethally strong. ahaha.

Any thoughts?

Why would I wanna get an ACT flywheel, and pressure plate, but stay OEM for throwout bearing and clutch plate?
