Default First Major Problem

So word is in, and I officially have my first, and probably not the last, major problem.

My transmission is done, I need a complete overhaul. They said that pretty much every bearing in the tranny that they could pinpoint with a stetho sounded bad. And lastly the part that the driveshaft plugs in to inside the tranny (i forgot what he called the part) is definitely bad and that that was the part that was causing the noise that made me bring it in. Through honda, i can get a brand spanking new warrantied tranny for 8k, or rebuild current for 6k (assuming they find nothing else wrong), or I can buy a used (15k miles) JDM engine and tranny for 4k online and have them drop it in.

Any suggestions? What I should do? Where I should go?

Im like 18 different kinds of depressed right now. I LOVE MY CAR but not enough money to show that i love my car, if you know what i mean. heh.

I would put a WTB up in the engine forums. A new tranny for 8k? LOL - How much crack does it come with? Contact some jankyards and see if they have 1 you can pull.

Look at it this way, your car is 8 years old and this is the first major problem. My dad had a brand new GMC Yukon, we had to have the transmission replaced 3 times in the first 2 years.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but why buy a sports car and not drive it? The car is going to lose value weather you drive it or not, might as well have some fun with it.

All too true!!!!

But nonetheless this leaves me with a problem that needs to be taken care of and Im seeking guidance from the well-experienced s2k community.
