For what purpose? For the track? Or street? Adding to a stock exhaust or aftermarket?
Idk if you've heard an S with open exhaust, but for the street its just not liveable....and I'm a guy who LOVES loud exhausts!
For the track, I think its a good idea for the most part. Those things have a tendency to slow the flow of the full exhausts when its closed tho

The car I am putting it on is for street use only. The main propose is so I can have the best of both worlds. I would like it to be more loud sometimes but I want to always be able to keep it quiet for when I come home late and road trips and other times when I need the car quiet.

Cut out won't fit with a standard Y pipe after the cat. You would need major exhaust work to make a cutout fit after the cat.
The best and only simple way to add a cutout, is to put the Y pipe in place of the cat. which means you get a test pipe too.
An open cutout is stupid loud

I'm doing this, but splicing a stock exhaust on one side and my Invidia exhaust on the other.
It won't just dump open.
Sure I'll have 2 different tips out back...but so what...my car looks ridiculous already.
I'm not worried about the crazy custom exhaust work - thats what my lift and hydraulic tubing benders are for.

Nope!
Stock exhausts are worth like $20. My Invidia exhaust was for an AP1 and needs better bends as it still hits in one section anyways.
Since neither is a super baller everyone wants to have it exhaust, I'm going to have my fun with them.
One of these days I'll choose a fancy exhaust that I only install for certain meets or shows or something, but until then...well yeah.
