I know, but by that definition autocross is not covered. It's a timed event. If they find out you have a transponder on your car during a road course run, that's also a 'timed event'.

Adam's situation is a little bit different. He went to his agent, explained what he planed on doing with the car, and had it ran through underwriting. He's got it in writing that his uses are acceptable and fall under his policy guidelines.

If you want to make sure you are covered in the case of an on-track incident I suggest you do the same.

I did just that with my AZ agent, and saved it. It also helps that my new guy here is a PCA member and does the same events with his car. We met yesterday to confirm all the terms are the same, and seek the same response from underwriting.

But, the autox scenario is interesting. It also calls into question using any phone based lap timers...

The odds that you'll be having any type of accident in AutoX are extremely low. There are no other cars and you rarely go over 20mph with no barriers.

http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticl...Insurance.aspx

http://ontrackinsurance.com/quick-quote.aspx

Minimum premium of $150 + $25 processing on the sencond link when I entered $11,000 (for the M3)

somewhere between 26K and 27K is where is starts to get more expensive.

I heard a 100,000 car would cost around $600 per day to insure through Lockton. WOWSA

SCCA posts results with people's names in it. Google Me and I show up. Some people have specifically not wanted to be posted in the results which makes sense.

I am aware that auto-x is not covered, and I am good with that!

Haha Ivan, I had a 50mph spin!! Yes generally there is much less to hit and much less can go wrong autocrossing.

Yes using an iphone for timing is a grey area, and if I ever have an incident I will never post video etc etc regarding the incident.

The old story and setup:

A little bit about the new setup. There will be a lot more out about the new setup in a few weeks from WTAC 2014.
