That was exactly what I was expecting. The power piece is really what makes me uninterested in the FRS/BRZ. Once they bump that power up that extra 30-40hp it will be great and then ditch the crap prius tires and it will be excellent.

Those look super interesting! I'd try them. Let me know if you find them somewhere.
Also... I was waiting for Feezy to chime in, but he test-drove an FR-S this weekend and brought it back to the house to show it off, and he wasn't impressed at all. Said it lacked power in the top-end entirely, and that made it really boring to drive. He also said he wasn't really a fan of the transmission (MT), that it felt slow to engage.

I test drove one, and it felt fairly gutless in the power department. The turn in was nice, it would probably ride like it was on rails on real tires. I didn't spend enough time in the seat to really judge the transmission much, though I didn't like the engagement of the clutch. The pedal travel is so short it feels more like an on/off switch.

Totally agree on all points brought up. In fact I test drove the FRS, and the salesperson wouldn't stop singing its praises. All I wanted to do was get a feel for it.
Having brought the S2K that day, I offered up a ridealong after the test drive. Silence.
