Default Clutch Replacement

All,
I don't have a lot of time for research, (searching this site). Didn't someone from our AZ group, or more, replace their clutch themselves? If so, could you turn me on to the thread through a link or comment here? I'd like to do this myself. Any major obstacles? Can I do this in my home garage?
Lastly, I track my car. Should I replace with stock, or is there a higher performance clutch that I must have?

Thanks,
CB

I just picked up an ACT clutch, but I got the street disc: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/...A85HS1HDSS.html

You can find them on ebay for $500 shipped.

The helms manual will be your best friend if you do decide to do it yourself.

Oh and make sure you have a TRANNY JACK!

No problem. I'd recommend replacing the throwout bearing and pilot bearing while you are in there. You might want to consider replacing the flywheel or resurfacing it, depending on how much abuse it has taken.

Agreed.
Can I get the bearings on line? Or is that a dealer item?
May need a recommendation for a reputable machinist for resurfacing the flywheel.
Thanks,

I think most kits come with the throwout bearing. At least that has been the case for the last 2 clutches I have purchased.

1. Helms manual a must & as well as DIY article from tech section
2. Tranny jack a must (I will lend you mine)
3. A variety of extensions and swivel joints in 3/8" drive
4. Impact gun helps with subframe bolts
