Arrow Center Console Pull Spring

All,
It appears that my center console slide cover pull mechanism is gone. I have to manually slide it back now.
Anyone else have the slide pull spring, or whatever mechanism it is, go? And, how did you fix it?

Word?

This is the only defect I've found with my '04.
It's not major, but still, I don't get that James Bond feeling when I hit the release button.
Anybody have advice on how I can tear into the console?

isn't it just like the AP1s? Just pull it up it's held on by plastic tabs.

I do believe that the center console of the AP2 is mounted the same way. So yeah just pry it up from the back first, using something like an old credit card or something, then work your finger forward. Then just fix the spring or what ever it may be.

Yep. Thanks for the pointer. I pulled the console up from the back (where the leather meets the vertical rear console). I didn't take the whole console out as I'd have to take off the shift knob, but I did move the unattached console around so that I could remove the cupholder and slide mechanism from the main console. I found the coil band was totally unattached and was able to put it back together. What I can't figure out is what caused the band to come off in the first place.

Thanks for the help.
