catastrophic failure of rear diff
Ok, after putting in a 6 puck race clutch, and launching a little harder then i usually do, the rear diff goes kur-plunk. There is a hole the size of a mandarin orange in the houseing. A fracture that runs fron the back of the housing to the front. The gears are broken and chewed up. Luckily the LSD is still in good shape!
On order is The comptec reinforced housing, 4.57R gears and all the little goodies the pumkin is made from.
The car is sittin at SOS now, so if anyone wants to see what a rear diff looks like after a 5k rmp clutch drop will do feel free to look. Chris at SOS was great, ordered everything in the morning and hopefully in a week or two, i will be doing more 5k rmp clutch drops sucessfully!

Just goes to show that the S was not intended to "launch" and drag race. It has a peaky powerplant, IRS and a 50/50 weight distribution for a reason...to carve up the corners.
Good luck with the new setup.

Any one who modifies their car only to just "carve" the road is missing half the fun.
the car should be about balance, you should have enough power to "launch" and put your power to the ground as well as float through corners.. and be able to STOP as well.
Thanks for your support....

depends on where you drive. i ditched my other car in favor of the s2k because it does balance good straight line speed with corner carving abilities. improvements in BOTH areas will be coming

The only reason he had problems is because like any other car, when you add power, something else has to give.

Launches at 8-9000 rpm
That's not a launch that is tire smoking mahem. I'd almost be willing to bet that probably has less shock on the driveline than a 6-7k launch because the tires instantly spin up with no hope of grip.

Definitely not true... If the car is stock, then a decent driver can give it a good launch without any problems. I've done numerous launches at 8-9000 rpm, with no problems.
