Default A Back Road trip anyone?

Is anyone interested in making a Back Road trip, off the main interstates? For starters, I'm thinking of a trip that starts in west Phoenix up US 60 (Grand Ave) out to the junction of AZ 74 (just past Morristown, a community 10 miles southeast of Wickenburg) then onto a dirt road called Castle Hot SpringsRoad which takes us to the now closed once upscale resort. After the resort, the road passes an entrance to Lake Pleasant Regional Park and that could be a side trip, but there is an entrance fee for that and we could for a small fee, get pointed to the New Waddell Dam Scenic Overlook.

Then we return to 74 and cross I-17 to visit Cave Creek and Carefree Where it might be time for lunch before returning down Scottsdale Road to pick up the 101 to get back home.

Let me know if anyone is interested in making a group ride.

Let's take 'em up the back road to Crown King, they won't get stuck, I swear!

Castle Hot Springs Rd could take us pretty far behind Lake Pleasant which could get interesting. I wonder how the S's suspension will like those roads, however. They seem to limit your speed to < 20mph and I can't imagine you'd want to go any faster. Could be a lot of fun, taking into consideration the care you may need to drive down those rutted dirt roads.

I may be naive, as I haven't tried this trip yet. It comes from an Arizona Highways book titled "the Back Roads Arizona". and while it says the dirt road can get soft in places in wet weather, it makes no mention of needing a high clearance vehicle, as it does for other trips. I welcome any and all opinions. Maybe a dirt road isn't such a good idea if we wanted to do a ride with the top down, obviously the preferred way to drive. But isn't part of Hwy 88 also unpaved?

A good portion of it is unpaved, but not the part S2000's drive on.

I've driven my S in the dirt a few times, but driving behind someone else on a dirt road is a no no. Besides the car wasn't designed to drive back roads, that's what Subaru's are for...
