It seems this site has been running slower the last few weeks and at times when you try to search topics an error page is retured ? However the queries are being done it seems like they are slower than they use to be.

PHP pages theres the problem

I wonder if the site is undergoing development changes or having problem with the hosting company.

I even get errors sometimes when I try to PM someone.

I've been having problems lately on my work laptop on this site with internet explorer. I have to click the back button multiple times rather than once to go back because there is some ad pages that are loading or something.

LOL time to port this to a better technology. Like....... .NET

Actually I doubt its the web pages, I suspect its something either with the servers or hosting company. Maybe the database.

I work with both PHP and .NET and it's not even close. We stick to PHP when possible.

I'm sure they have other issues with the board unrelated.

If you have an older cable modem, say from 2001, then it is suspect.
My system started browsing dog slow about a month ago. It turned out that my trusty old cable modem could not handle Cox's new hotter signal, 30db.
Got a new cable modem and the browsing is back to top speed.

ASP.NET > PHP

I understand .NET is not open source but with Mono that is changing for .NET anyway. Plus isn't PHP still interpreted v.s. Compiled ? ..

Truth is whatever you can do in one you can do in the other, I'm just biased to MR.Softie since that has been my career for the past 8 years.

This is not cable modem specific it happens at both home and work. Plus I have no problem with any of the other sites I routinely visit.

If your Internet access is seemingly slower than what it was a few weeks ago, then look at your Internet modem.
Look... I've gone through the entire path. The last item I changed was the last thing I suspected... the cable modem.
For what it's worth...
I totally understand why you all would NOT suspect the modem...
I too am an IT professional. The Modem change caught me.
What has happened is that Cox has jacked up the signal strength to help ensure better download speeds. In the meantime, it "smoked" older modems.
It is the physical layer that has problems - for you OSI model folks.
