Anyone Mountain bike?
I need to excercise more and I hate doing leg work outs so my this my out for leg work. I've been looking up bikes but I don't know squat about them so if anyone can help me let me know. Craigslist has a few. This is one that I found.

Let me know what you think and if how much I should talk him down. I know the brakes that use the rotors are pretty good but as for weight and tuning like that I'm lost. TIA!

I have a cheap Mongoose I bought new for $250 that I like just fine but I never go off well-groomed trails. It's really shiny and shifts smooth, that's about all I know about mountain bikes.
So glad I could help.

Phillie - that bike you posted is heavy and outdated. But it is cheap, fo sho. Are you buyning a mtn bike just to 'excercise', or do you see yourself actually getting into it hobby-wise? If the latter, I would plan on spending a G+ to get a bike you won't be sick of in 3 months. I can offer you some suggestions and show you some good trails, too.

I have a really nice Haro double-suspension. Bought it off my cousin a few years back. Rides well, very light, good Shimano equipment on it. First question is what kind of terrain are you going to ride? For mostly uphill and flat, you might prefer a single fron suspension as it will be lighter and you get better push up the hills. Soft tail is mostly if you will have rough terrain or downhill stuff in the ride.
You might go talk to Tempe Cycle (University west of Ash on north side). They know their stuff and can help point you in the right direction. Might even have some year-end closeouts on models, etc.

I'm not sure what I will exactly do. Excercise is a definite. I'd like to do some trails but don't know if I'll really stay with it as a hobby. I'd really like to spend the least as possible thats why I'm looking at used ones on craigs list. I found another one that looks good. Don't know if it is though.

O.K. I broke down an got this. Its not all that but it had some good features and a good price. For a beginners bike I can't lose for $159 shipped or so I think. Now I gotta order one of those little trailors so I can get the kids out of the wifes hair or go all together.
