200+ people sitting outside of Best Buy
Do people have lives anymore? I drove by a Best Buy around 9pm on the way home from a family member's house and there was a HUGE line outside. The parking lot was packed with cars and more people were driving into the lot. What deal is worth sitting outside for 8+ hours to get?
I have a hypothesis:
The people who took adjustable mortgages and didn't understand the terms are the same people standing outside of stores tonight.

They are not idiots. They are sheep conditioned by shopping pride.
I thought that I'd swing by Circuit City this morning - which is right down the street from me, to look at PDAs for my wife. There was a line outside the store to get in. I quickly changed my mind. Then I was going to go to Costco to buy a case of oil for SPLNDID and it was PACKED too! Wal-Mart was decent, so I bought oil there and immediately went home to my garage.
Yeah, it is nuts. Create a frenzy and you can make bucks.
Beany Babies anyone?

Heyyyyy
This was my first year participating in Black Friday Shopping. I arrived at my Best Buy at 7:30pm last night and was #163 in line out of #1000. They handed out wristbands to the first 1,000 to guarantee your spot in the store and they handed out doorbuster specials that only got to about the 200th spot. I needed a few things that they had good deals on so I took the plunge, brought a sleeping bag, my ipod, and some water, and saved some buku bucks.
I'm very happy with my Garmin GPS and Canon DSLR.
Oh, and there were about another 350 or so people waiting behind the first 1,000 people.
