I thought you could use stock ones? Do all aftermarket exhausts require some type of special (non-stock) gasket?

They sell sheets at any speed shop in which you can cut and make any type of gasket you want. I think the sheets are made by mr. gasket sorta cardboardy. They are asbesto so don't go sniffing it and cut it with a sissor or exacto knife don't take a dremel or a jig saw to it!

My exhaust didn't come with one. I purchased an OEM exhaust gasket maker tube from an auto parts store. It works great and no leaks

Just apply around where you need it and it will bond together.

It's real cheap too.

BlueBoy, make sure you bought the right sheet of gasket material. I lost one from one my my aftermarket pipes and had to buy a sheet from Loper's Auto here in AZ. The guy came back with two different ones. He looked the part numbers up: one was a "sheet, gasket material" and one was a "sheet, exhaust gasket material", I assume with a better temp rating...

The mr. gasket cardboard cut-it-yourself gasket material worked fine for me.
