- just incase the site goes down or whatever:
What it does:
This mod allows you to use the factory dashboard radio switches to control your aftermarket head unit. It accomplishes this by sending infrared control signals to your new head unit in response to operation of the dash switches.
Head unit compatibility:
In general, the DCI works with all Sony, Alpine, Kenwood, Clarion and Pioneer head units that come with a factory infrared remote control. Since All brands are consistent with their signals the DCI is compatible with MOST decks with infrared remotes.
Exceptions - the DCI will not work with some new Sony models using the "Hi R remote" that allows uploading mpeg videos to the head unit. Specifically, it will NOT work with MEX1HD, MEX5DI, and CDXMP70. It does work on the new CDXM630 and MP70.
Features:
Small adapter unit - easily fits behind, above, or beside head unit.
Provides 9 control functions using the 5 stock dash switches. See functions chart below.
No programming required - just set your head unit brand on the dip switches and it's ready to operate.
No 'delay' in button response - unlike some other devices on the market, the DCI functions operate immediately when the dash button is pressed.
Auto-repeat function built-in - press and hold VOLUME UP, and the volume will increase rapidly as the command is repeated. Auto-repeat works on other functions too, meaning functions like 'track fast-forward' will work if you press and hold the NEXT TRACK button, just like they do with the factory remote control.
Lucid Automotive's INTO S2000 Harness - simple wire color matching
Optional Speed Controlled Volume function - if you elect to connect one additional wire to the S2000's speedometer circuit (easy to do) you can use this built-in feature to automatically raise and lower the volume based on vehicle speed. There are 4 user-selectable settings for the amount of volume compensation, so you can experiment and find one that's right for you. See details of the SCV feature below.
IR Mute Disable - for Alpine head units only, you can elect to disable Infra-red activation of the MUTE function, and hard-wire the DCI to the ATT lead on the HU.
