Does this one require modification of the OEM hood?

 

good question. this one does NOT require modifying the oem hood to work.

 

Does this clear the black bar in the front of the '04 & '05 models?

 

if this is the same bar found on the '06 model, which is what i have - i had to remove my bar. i was skimming the topic in the forum prior to buying this snorkel, and it sounded like some people had made it fit with the bar, but i didn't see that really happening myself.

 

^^ which bar are you speaking of? I have an 07 and I'm not familiar with a "black bar". I only know of the bumper support, but I doubt that's what you're referring to.

 

How does it sound? Also, any bump in performance? Thanks.

 

If you bend down and peer through the lower black plastic grill in the front bumper, you will see an additional hollow black bar that is approx 1" diameter, maybe 24" long. Its an additional brace that I believe AP2s have. This bar is simply bolted into the chassis for additional reinforcement. I had to remove it to clear the snorkel.
