i've got these for sale. buying the hardtop installation parts brand new can cost a lot, so if you buy the pieces seperately, you could save some money. please PM me if you're interested, or if you have any questions

Can you get a better picture of where it hooks in??

Mine are gouged instead of flat where the hook latches in.

It should be like this
___
___| <---- that is where the hook grabs on the striker.

But mine is like this
____
____) <---- mine is bent from the hook over time I guess.

So since it's bent like that, it doesn't snug down the soft top as well as it should. (I have a HT kit but no HT yet BTW)

dude, it's a solid chunk of metal, nothing's bent.....

i assume the hardtop strikers are "thicker/heavier/beefier", because a hardtop can't "give" (in terms of flexibility) as much as a softtop can.

Trust me it's bent. They all do it over time from normal wear and tare.

A new striker is the only fix unless you put something over the hook part of the latch to make it thicker like that airplane tubing crap people have talked about.

Look at this picture from my car (sorry it's blurry). You can see the grove made by the latch hook? It's not much, but that amount of slack is enough to prevent the top from clamping down hard enough even though it's only 1mm.

I can probably just put a pice of metal on the striker to fix it rather than new ones??

BUMP BUMP BUMP!!! someone grab these, i bought these for 80.00 from the dealer. They help lower the wind noise down, by creating a tighter grip on the cloth top. If you have worn out strikers, get there!!!! =) mark
