The differential between the two dynos is from the combination of the exhaust and intake and not the intake alone, right?

Either way those are nice gains.

Those are some pretty impressive gains. You know, I look at that intake (and I'm no genius) and it seems there would be a tradeoff in "length of pipe vs better flowing pipe".

What I mean by that is that airflow through a pipe will see resistance. The longer the pipe, the more resistance and/or the more airflow the more resistance. I find it difficult to believe that this type of intake offers any gains vs. the stock one (aside from the cold air factor). I can see why intakes alone show little or no hp gains. I mean look at the length of that pipe. True it may be larger and have smoother bends than stock, but it looks to be at least 3 to 4 times longer.

Anyone else notice this or have any knowledge of the actual pressure drop in an intake like this?

What you can get from CAI

1- COLD air intake this is where the most of the power increase come from. We speak at about 5% max but it is more 3% if we can translate this to pressure we can speak of 12 inches of water for 3% increase

2- The next biggest restriction is the air filter wich can rob 2.5 % when dirty and maybe .5 % new (1 inch of water new 10 inches dirty)

3- I did put numbers on loss inside 3'' dia pipe 60 inches long and it is not that much, we speak of between 50 pa to 100 pa wich is about .5 inches of water so lets say it can go up to 1 inch of water.

make your conclusions
