AP1 differential for cheap $100 obo + shipping
as stated in the title, here is my AP1 differential diff.
I realized the LSD wasn't working after about 60,000km, so the differential essentially is an open diff.
Good to use if you blew up your diff and are looking for a cheap replacement.

A differential, by definition, takes input on one shaft and transmits it to two shafts proportionally via gears or clutches:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Differential_(mechanical_device)
It consists of a case, pinion and crown gear, and a centre. The centre can be simply 3 or 4 gears enmeshed (open), a series of gears and clutches (locking), a series of gears and a fluid coupler, or a series of worm gears (torsen), and possibly some other combinations that slip my mind.
What you are looking at a picture of is a Torsen diff centre. A stuffed one apparently.
And the important point is, if the 'diff' in your S2000 goes, that piece will be of bugger all use to you.
Ask me how I know:

Mind you, on re-reading the OP it might be a working diff centre.
If you can drive on it, it is working. If the car has one rear wheel off the ground and it spins and the car goes nowhere, it is still working.
That is because the Torsen is a 'torque sharing' rather than 'limited slip' or 'locking' diff. What it does is share the torque between the rear wheels proportionately. Meaning that there is a ratio of torque between the wheels. But if one side is off the ground (0 traction) the ratio is to infinity and hence no torque on the wheel with traction.

well, whatever the case. This is the part that goes into the diff housing, the 'pumpkin' if you will.
This is the original on from my AP1, and it wasn't doing it's job.
When the rear is off the ground, say on a hoist, and you spin one wheel, the other should spin the other way. This is what my mechanic told me. I'm sure it's easy for you to try the next time your car is on the hoist.
What this broken diff did, was when you moved the driver's side wheel, it would barely move the other side. And when you spun the passenger side wheel, the other side wouldn't move.
You still get power to the wheels, but the torque transfer function of the diff is 100% not working.
Effectively, this is an open differential. It's great to drive on to, learn throttle control and how to drive smoothly, because you're not relying on anything except driver input to keep the rear end planted.
BUMP. please reply with a zip code so I can quote you on shipping, cus this thing is heavy, about 10-15 lbs.
