Default Opening the 2013 Season

S2Kiers,
Any interest in getting together to open up the 2013 season? It doesn't even have to be with the cars but I figure it might be nice to break some bread together, imbibe in a few adult beverages and throw together some thoughts on what we would all like to do this year with the club. I know my work and family schedule has gotten crazy over the past 18 months and I haven't been the leader I promised you all I would be. I'd really like to change that. I know a few things that are potential on the schedule for this year include:

Spring Fling 2013
Tomcatt 2013
Maury's Memorial Cruise

We can also look at:

Paul/Dennis's Uniontown/7Springs run
I hear Sam has a nice run in Ohio he does
I have been putting together a LONG Allegheny National Forest run (may require an over night stop)
Bob's run (Foxburg?)

Meets:
Pittsburgh Cars and Coffee
Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix
Potential S2K day at a local Honda Dealership? Maybe I can organize something were a bunch of us attend and they give us a discount that we can use there? Oil change or supplies for doing your own maintenance?
Flashlight Drags at PittRun? I'd like to go even if we don't run just to watch the other cars.

Plus an assortment of AutoX days and the like.

Post up if you guys have any thoughts or ideas. We can always meet up at a restaurant or at my place. Renee and I are up for whatever!

This is a good idea, just say when and where and I'll try and make it.
I do have a great road over here in Ohio that we could take a ride on. The drive is about 80 miles of some of the best twisties and elevation changes for this part of Ohio. It ends at Atwood Lake where we could grab some lunch/dinner at the Lighthouse Bistro and then drive back up the same road we came down on Rt. 164

Sounds great! Winter is too long. We're up for dinner, etc. A Saturday night would be my 1st choice, but that's flexible.

Sam, we haven't done that Rt164 Drive for a while, I'm up for that.

The drive that I've done a few times was extended (at Maury's request). Starts at Grove City Outlets thru Foxburg to Kennerdale. Then we usually finish at Racheal's Roadhouse. Nice back roads with good twisties & scenery. Takes about 1.75 hours.

Getting some cruises together would be great. That 7 Springs run last fall was fun. The one up north starting at Grove City would definitely be a nice cruise.

Another one you could maybe add to the meets is the weekly Starlight Cruise in Wexford. I heard somewhere that there was talk of last year being the end to that but their site says see you in 2013.

Don't forget the IndyCar Decal event. It was a good time last year

Count me in for dinner! I have a list of places I've wanted to try, so I'll just throw some up here:
-Up Modern Kitchen (Shadyside)
-Girasole (Shadyside)
-Meat & Potatoes (Downtown..parking may be difficult)
-Burgatory (multiple locations)...BRGR in East Liberty is a solid choice too
-Kaleidoscope Cafe (Lawrenceville)

But I'm down for anything.

Would love to do dinner, although I would favor some place outside the city (i.e. without potholes and with parking). Something about a soft top in the city that worries me.

Starlite is dead to us. It is still going, but this year (because they sold the land to Highmark that was the upper lot) your car has to be from 1978 or earlier to get in.

All of the drives sound great and I will try to make all of them (except Spring Fling).

I would love to see a group of us go to the PVGP. $25 gets you parking on the site. I've gone a few years (Saturday is the much bigger and better day) and would love to see a line of S2000s there instead of all the old guys in their Miatas. My wife and I have gone with a picnic lunch. Just pick a shady tree and enjoy.

If dinner doesn't work, note that the first Cars N Coffee is Saturday April 20th - we could add a lunch after that. They appear to be talking about having it in rotating locations, but this first one is in Robinson.

CORRECTION: The site is Echo restaurant on Route 228 in Cranberry. Right at the exit (78) off of I-79

Perhaps there's two events happening on April 20th, but I thought the CnC opener is with the Columbus Cars & Coffee at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Word on the street is that the regular location has also changed to a lot in Cranberry due to the Robinson lot requiring event insurance and limiting parking spaces. But I think Cliff will make an announcement soon about these details.

As for a place with good parking and good food, Dinette in East Liberty has some amazing pizzas and there's a two-level parking structure (it's free) right in front. Definitely open to try places outside of the city though.

Edit: My bad, there's the Pgh CnC season opener in addition to the Columbus event. Hope to see you guys there!
