ruined 2 - is it true you are the resident audio expert?
I know you are thinking....why do you want to know?

And I know EXACTLY why you want to know .
And for those who have used it (since I've never messed with it), doesn't the modifry piece give you most but not all of the functions of the factory dash controls?

actually phil,
i'm not sure i remember what all the stock controls are capable of doing, but i believe modifry's dci actually adds functions because it allows using combinations of buttons. for instance, i can change radio frequency by using the "vol" buttons while holding the "ch" button, or scroll through radio presets by holding "mode" button. oh yeah, and my favorite part is the adjustable speed-variable volume.
oh but also, i meant to ask... are you familiar with tuning a stereo setup? in particular, using phase shifts to adjust for time delays, and setting the right frequency cutoffs between the midbass speakers and the sub. i feel like i have never been able to tune my setup perfectly, and it may be just because of the limitations presented by a convertible, but maybe you'd be willing to help me one of these days?

preppy -
are you happy with the modifry? Did you use the optional wiring harness for your new headunit?
What is your audio set up?
I had audio communications in monroeville do two of my cars with poor results. I spent hours trying to tune my pathfinder that has the alpine 9855 with time delay

thanks phil.
and steelcitys2,
i don't think i purchased the wiring harness because i didn't mind using wire taps on the original wiring, plus the speed wire has to be tapped into regardless. it has been a while though... i was on modifry's waiting list for a long time to get one as soon as he developed it for my nakamichi cd400.
again, nothing but great things about it. my only complaint is that when the sun shines directly on the headunit's ir sensor, it seems to reflect too much and prevent the ir signals from the dci from being read by the hu. i just close the radio door when this happens.
my setup is the nak cd400 powered by a nak pa2002 2-channel amp to drive diamond hex components in the doors/a-pillars and an alpine mrd-m301 mono class-d amp to drive a 12" alpine type r sitting in the trunk well. i use my ipod mounted in my cupholder connected through the aux input of my hu and powered by a belkin auto kit. works great.

Checkout the Pioneer Premier 790 Head Unit. It comes with the Ipod cable, and is bluetooth ready too. Give me a call to speak further about it... I just started working at AudioWorkx on 51. 412-818-9993
